The HIPAA Summit is an approved Distance Learning Provider for PA MCLE. As such the Summit will submit and pay for claimed CLE credits to PA MCLE for attorneys barred in Pennsylvania. For all other attorneys barred in other states, the Summit will post a record of their attendance at the Forty-Second Virtual National HIPAA Summit in the PA MCLE date bases and will issue a Certificate of Attendance that the attorney may self-report their participation to states seeking CLE credits. The Summit does not guarantee that states will accept the Certificate of Attendance.

Other CLE Jurisdictions
California:
A California attorney can claim California MCLE credit for education activities attended/taken outside California, provided that:
- the attorney is outside California when attending/taking the activity.
- the activity is the type of activity that can be approved for California MCLE credit;
- the activity is approved by an Approved Jurisdiction. Note: HIPAA Summit is approved by PA, which is an approved jurisdiction.
If the criteria above are met, neither the provider nor the attorney needs to submit the activity to California for approval. California credit can be claimed by the attorney, based on the fact an approved jurisdiction approved the activity.
Please refer to Approved Jurisdictions (ca.gov) for standards of approval.
Illinois
An Illinois attorney can claim Illinois MCLE credit for education activities attended/taken outside Illinois, provided that the course provider has accredited the course for Illinois CLE credit or the attorney applies to claim Illinois CLE credit for a qualifying live out-of-state or live technology course. To earn credit, you must upload the Certificate of Attendance for the Live Event through their Illinois CLE account (Attorney Login for My MCLE.
When an attorney isn’t certain if a course is accredited, the attorney should contact the course provider and ask if the course has been or will be submitted for Illinois accreditation. Please note the established deadlines and late fees for a provider to apply after the course start date.
New Jersey:
Through reciprocity, New Jersey will accept credits for courses that are not accredited in New Jersey, but are accredited in another mandatory CLE jurisdiction, provided the type of credit/course is not otherwise excluded by the BCLE Regulations and does not exceed the credits allowed for teaching. Attorneys relying on reciprocity must ensure that they are also meeting the requirements of New Jersey’s program. There is no fee for reciprocity. Except for the courses required under BCLE Reg. 201:2, all active lawyers will receive 1:1 credit for courses approved as satisfying the continuing legal education requirements of any other jurisdiction, so long as they comply with any course accreditation restrictions in New Jersey. Lawyers complying with requirements in other states that do not have an ethics/professionalism requirement nevertheless must satisfy the ethics/professionalism requirement set forth in BCLE Reg. 201 to be considered in full compliance with New Jersey’s CLE requirement.
Please refer to Continuing Legal Education – FAQ | NJ Courts for requirements for claiming credit.
New York:
Under New York’s Approved Jurisdiction policy, so long as certain requirements are satisfied, New York attorneys may count towards their New York CLE requirement credit earned through participation in out-of-state courses accredited by a New York Approved Jurisdiction. The policy applies to both traditional live classroom-format and nontraditional-format courses (online, DVD, teleconference, etc.). Global Health Care is an approved provider in PA, which meets NY’s approved jurisdiction policy. As such, the attorney must retain a complete set of written materials or, for voluminous written materials, a table of contents and the first ten pages of the materials, or some other proof that thorough, high-quality written materials were distributed for the course.
Please refer to the Approved Jurisdiction List and Policy | NYCOURTS.GOV for requirements for claiming credit for an Out-of-State Course Under New York’s Approved Jurisdiction Policy.
